Project Brief
Branding
For this project, each student was tasked with coming up with their own business and making an identity system and presentation kit. This was a three part project. First, students had to create a logo, then a direct mailer, then a presentation kit that all stayed true to the brand and illustrative styles.

Learning the Ropes
This was my first branding assignment which introduced me to a whole new world of the industry at this time. As mentioned before, students had to make a logo first. This place is based off a local record cafe in my hometown that I have always enjoyed going to. For a project that would span three months, I wanted the business to be something I loved. As you can see, the logo is a coffee cup with a record that is made to look like it was made with foam art or a reflection of the light.
The second part of this project was to make a direct mailer for your business. However, the challenge was to maintain the style you established in your logo. I wanted it to match the fun illustrative vibes of the logo as well as establish the mood that I wanted my business to be associated with. So, I added more illustrations, kept a warm color pallet to emulate coffee, and made sure to arrange those elements so portray how this business would make a customer feel.
The third part of this project was the most extensive part. We were tasked with making a presentation kit that included a presentation folder, business card, and letterhead. While the business card and letter head were relatively simple to create, I struggled with the folder. I had never made something like that before, and it was challenging to make sure the dielines were correct and that the design was cohesive to the brand. Despite that, it turned out to a new passion for my major that I didn’t know that I had.
