Meaning of Art
For this project, each student was asked to create a poster for what they believed was the meaning of art. There is a broad variety of the meaning as it’s determined differently based on unique individual experiences. After designing, we would vote on who’s poster was the most visually appealing and take it to a professional printer and observe how the printing process worked.
Determining My Meaning
As mentioned before, art isn’t defined by one specific word. Due to this, it was hard to determine what my meaning of art was. At first it was “Art Is Human” where I would make a statement about how art will always be made by humans. However, I noticed how most of my classmates were doing something very similar to that as well. I switched gears and changed the statement to be less broad and found myself at “Art Is Organic.” The design is inspired by something I found during my research period and wanted the letterforms to be overlapped by the loose, organic forms in the back.
